Waterscapes under Pressure: Drivers and Opportunities
ASLO 2027 Aquatic Sciences Meeting Submittal Site · 28 February - 5 March 2027 in San Juan, Puerto Rico
The oceans contain more than 5,000 times the volume of water found in inland lakes and rivers combined. Yet, their biodiversity and functioning are tightly linked across the aquatic continuum, as are the fates of ecosystem health and human society. The 2027 ASLO ASM aims to explore the drivers and stressors that shape aquatic systems, and identify opportunities to implement sustainable solutions. We encourage contributions that 1) explore the functioning of the aquatic continuum, 2) identify formal and informal opportunities for education and engagement related to water, and 3) focus on approaches that empower underrepresented groups to equally benefit from and contribute to water research, policy and governance. Exploring the synergies among these themes will help turn the tide to advance our knowledge of these diverse global waterscapes and their protection.
Session Proposal SubmissionWe invite you to propose special sessions related to the meeting theme or on other emerging topics in aquatic sciences. There will also be contributed sessions that will cover major themes in limnology and oceanography, such as biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, biodiversity, as well as other topics. Session proposals for the ASLO 2027 Aquatic Sciences are due by 23:59 U.S. Pacific Time on 14 June 2026. Proposals should include the following information:
Proposals must be submitted by the 14 June 2026 deadline via the online submission form. All speakers and session organizers must register for the meeting, submit an abstract, and pay all fees when registration becomes available. |
Workshops, Town Halls, and Other Auxiliary EventsThe organizers of the meeting encourage the submission of requests for town halls, workshops, social events, student/early career events, and other auxiliary meetings. These events should be planned during lunch or possibly in the evening. Meeting room space will be complimentary if there are rooms available. All other costs will not be covered. Even if space is not available at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, you may still organize your own meeting or activity at an alternative location. Auxiliary event applications will be reviewed by the meeting chairs and members of the scientific committee. Organizers will be contacted in late 2026 with acceptance and details about their event. All session organizers who attend the meeting must register and be able to fund their own registration, travel, and accommodation. At least one organizer from each session must attend and oversee your session during the meeting. If you have questions about the application or an event that you are planning, please contact Mik Bauer at mbauer@aslo.org. |
